VTrans Civil Engineer - Traffic Operations Bureau

VTrans Operations and Safety Bureau is recruiting for a Civil Engineer in the Traffic Operations Bureau. The Civil Engineer will serve as a Traffic Engineer within the Traffic Operations Section of the Operations and Safety Bureau at the Agency of Transportation. The Traffic Engineer will work on a wide range of tasks related to traffic and traffic mobility on a statewide level. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer with strong writing skills and familiarity with many aspects of traffic engineering. The candidate will bring creative solutions and big ideas combined with the technical skills and determination to see them to completion. Examples of potential traffic and mobility engineering tasks include:

  • Road Safety Audit Reviews
  • Traffic signal warrant analysis
  • Small-scale safety improvement projects
  • Engineering studies for the Vermont Traffic Committee
  • Travel time reliability analysis related to federal PM3 reporting
  • Traffic signal retiming and other statewide traffic and mobility issues as they arise.

This position will also be involved with writing or rewriting Agency-wide guidance and policy documents related to Traffic Engineering.
